Birth Story:
My birth was very unexpected while still expected. I found out I was pregnant 10 days after my birthday and baby girls due date was October 30th. I was in preterm labor but it was controlled. We knew she'd come early but to my surprise on October 4th I woke up around 6am to contractions. Since I was in preterm labor I didnt think anything of it but once I realized they were regular I told my partner because guess what? October 4th is his birthday. Ironic huh? I spent the day with him doing our birthday plans for him but by the time we finished with cake, I knew it was time to go in.
Contractions were 5-7 minutes apart and I was dilated to 4.5cm. I planned to go unmedicated but ended up getting back labor and happily chose to get an epidural and road out the rest of my labor as if it was all natural. By 7cm my water hadn't broken so my doctor broke it and only four hours later I was at a 9. They let me labor her down all the way after I hit 10cm and even with the epidural I could feel it but I honestly didn't mind since I still felt like I was experiencing the natural, calm labor I wanted.
I did a few pushes with my nurse and then the rest with my OB and she was out in 30 minutes at 8:27pm on October 5th. It was honestly the most perfect birth I could've asked for for my first baby even if it didnt go fully as planned. Despite her being 36-weeks she is 100% healthy and passed every test with ease. I still can't process the fact that I pushed her out but I can happily say my birth story is exactly everything I had hoped for.
