Birth Story:
Been someone who’s had a lifelong fear of giving birth & tokophobia never dreamed of having a baby at all nevermind without pain relief.
I was adamant as soon as I’d need the epidural I’d get it - that was the only thing getting me through pregnancy without anxiety.
I went into spontaneous labour after doing the miles circuit the day before (it really does work!) 3 days before my due date - woke up on Friday at 7am with lower back pain. I was at home all day on my own as hubby was at work. It started off with mild lower back period pains coming and going irregularly. I didn’t even think they was contractions as it in my back only but decided to ring hospital. She said im probably early labour and to stay at home as long as possible. At this point totally manageable so I just did tidying up made a nice lunch even had a 90 min nap.
By the time 2pm came they’d started to ramp up abit so I took paracetamol and hubby was on his way home (he got home at 4pm and put the TENS machine on my back) he called the hospital and explained I was in more pain now so they said to come down.
When we arrived at hosp they checked me and I was already 5cm dilated ! I was officially in active labour and I knew I could get the epidural anytime I wanted but they asked if I wanted to use the birthing pool first. I said yes as at this time the contractions were Manageable and I was talking normally Inbetween.
Got in the pool at 7pm and never got back out ! Gave birth at 11pm - 18 mins of pushing on all fours in the pool and she was out !! Unbelievable feeling. I had a second degree tear and needed to be stitched and that was actually worse than Labour. We got discharged from the hospital the next day around 7pm.
Amazing feeling !!
